Background:
Since the Portland Building's Installation Space program began in 1994, over 100 installations by regional artists have been featured in the small lobby space designated for temporary art installations. The goals of the program are to provide the general public with the opportunity to experience challenging and diverse artwork, encourage dialogue about the role of art in public spaces, and provide artists with an alternative space to show their work. The site is a unique public forum through which art can be debated, discussed and contemplated.

The Portland Building, located at 1120 SW 5th Avenue [Map] in downtown Portland, is a hub of City and County government activities. The building is open to the public from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and staffed by security around the clock, seven days a week.
